Uposatha are special Buddhist holy days that occur four times each lunar month, marking the new moon, full moon, and quarter moon phases. These are times for intensified spiritual practice and moral observance.

1. Refrain from killing living beings

4. Refrain from false speech
5. Refrain from intoxicants
6. Refrain from eating after midday
7. Refrain from entertainment, beautification, and luxurious beds
8. Refrain from handling money

- Extended meditation practice - vipassana or samatha
- Study Buddhist texts (Tripitaka) and reflect on teachings
- Dana (giving) - offer food, flowers, or donations to monks
